Airstream "Explore Everywhere" Bandana by Bandits

Bandits not only make bandanas – they make the world a better place by working with artists from around the world and donating some of the profits to charity. For our Airstream + Bandits collection, we worked with artist Nuri Amanatullah – an illustrator, designer, and muralist based in the Antelope Valley to the north of Los Angeles, CA.

The result is a collection of bandanas that captures the adventure, exploration, and fun of hitting the road in an Airstream.

The Charity

The Mojave Desert Landt Trust (MDLT) is a non-profit organization that protects the unique living landscapes of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts. Jased in Joshua Tree, their mission is to protect the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.

MDLT has conserved more than 100,00 acres of prime desert habitat, forever weaving together nation parks, national monuments, wilderness areas, and wildlife linkage corridors. The organization works closely with a broad range of desert community members and visitors, as well as with local, state and federal agencies. MDLT offers hands-on learning and volunteer opportunities to residents and visitors of the desert. It collaborates closely with, and is supported by, a diverse range of partner organizations, agencies, neighbors, and visitors who treasure the desert's unique qualities. 

About the Artist

Rich in detail, Nuri Amanatullah's work is heavily influenced the frenetic energy of Jim Lee's illustrations in the X-Men Comics from the early-90's. Nuri takes elements of this style (among others) and makes it his own through explorations of subject matter from the natural world. Through unique textures, bold colors, and layered compositions, he imbues his work with a sense of action and electricity, allowing each piece to tell a tale all it's own.

In addition to creating as a freelance artist, Nuri has lent a great deal of his work (and time) to the non-profit Housing Corporation of America helping to jump-start and brand a wide variety of onsite art programs at affordable income housing properties. In addition to these incredible Airstream bandanas, Nuri has created several other bandanas for BANDITS including their iconic "Rattle & Hiss" design and special editions for REI and National Geographic.
