An Icon of the Outdoors: Kermit Chair Company
Some products earn their place in the outdoors by simply doing things differently. Kermit Chair is one of those brands. With an iconic design, a history rooted in adventure, and a commitment to American craftsmanship, Kermit Chair feels right at home alongside Airstream.
The story began in 1984 when BMW motorcyclist and engineer Kermit Easterling set out to solve a problem. He wanted a camping chair that was comfortable and sturdy, but compact enough to pack on the back of a motorcycle. So, he built one himself. As Kermit traveled to BMW rallies, other riders took notice of the unique wooden chair, and what began as a personal solution quickly grew through word of mouth into a cult classic.
Today, Kermit Chair Company continues that legacy from the Nashville, Tennessee area as a family-run business. Its furniture stays true to the original 1984 design while pairing timeless style with the durability needed for life outdoors.
Built for the Journey
What we love most about Kermit Chair is the thought behind every detail. Each piece is handmade from your choice of American white oak or black walnut and sealed with a high-grade polyurethane finish for lasting protection.
White oak offers a lighter, classic appearance along with strength and natural abrasion resistance, while black walnut brings a darker, refined look and an impressive strength-to-weight ratio. Both feel equally at home around the campfire, outside your Airstream, or even in your living room.
And, of course, portability is at the heart of the design. Kermit Chair furniture breaks down into a compact carrying case, making it easy to pack away when space is at a premium. It's exactly the kind of smart, purposeful design we appreciate for life on the road.
Why We Love Kermit Chair
At Airstream Supply Company, we're drawn to brands that have a story to tell. Kermit Chair isn't about disposable camping furniture or chasing the latest trend. It's about craftsmanship, functionality, and creating something you'll want to bring along for adventure after adventure.
There's also something special about pairing two icons of travel. Both Airstream and Kermit Chair share an appreciation for enduring design, quality materials, and the idea that the things you take with you should make the journey even better.
Whether you're settling into your favorite campsite, gathering around the fire, or creating a comfortable outdoor space beside your Airstream, Kermit Chair proves that practical gear can still be beautifully made.
Made to pack. Built to last. Ready for wherever the road takes you.
