How to Install Pleated Skylight Shades
Begin by identifying the mounting points built into the headrail base. These attachment points are located along the bottom edge of the rail, just behind the first fold of fabric, and are fitted with plastic inserts for screw placement. Take care to keep the fabric clear while fastening. Using an extended-length driver bit will make installation easier (not included).
Place the headrail into the skylight opening, aligning it evenly within the frame. Secure it by driving screws through the openings and into the skylight structure.
Once the headrail is fastened, slide the center rail so it sits flush against the headrail.
Move the bottom rail base to the opposite end of the skylight opening. With it properly aligned, fasten it into place using the pre-drilled holes and attach it to the frame.
When installed correctly, the bottom rail will appear roughly one inch shorter before being secured, which is intentional and provides the necessary tension for proper operation. If the shade will not remain in position after installation, the unit size does not match the skylight opening.
