Rock Guard Rock Wrap Instructions
Application Instructions
Tools:
- Sharp razor knife
- Isopropyl Alcohol 90% (Propan-2-ol)
- Blue Dawn Dish Soap
- Masking Tape
- Clean Lint-Free Rags
Preparation:
Use Blue Dawn dish soap and a high-quality, clean lint-free rag to remove all grease, wax, dirt, and other substances from the areas where Rock Guard Rock Wrap is going to be installed. Next, use isopropyl alcohol and a new clean rag to remove all leftover residue. Ensure the area is completely dry before continuing.
Installation Recommendations:
- Only install Rock Guard Rock Wrap in temperatures between 50° F to 100° F (10° C to 38° C)
- Do not attempt to adjust or move once the installation process has begun.
- To prevent distortion, avoid pulling, stretching, or compressing pads during installation.
- Due to natural expansion and contraction of the foam, we recommend installing the parts with a minimum of ¼” gap between all pads.
Installation:
- Before pulling back any paper backing, lay out the pads in their designated locations to verify that the fit and spacing is correct.
- Identify the first pad to install, then turn the pad over so that the adhesive backing is face up. With a sharp razor knife, carefully cut the paper adhesive backing from the center of the pad towards the edges (center to top edge, center to bottom edge) to ensure it does not rip. Be sure to completely cut through the adhesive backing but DO NOT cut into the pad.
- Now starting from the center cut you just made, peel back 2” (5 cm) of the paper backing and fold to crease it. Repeat on the other side. Fold both pieces of the paper backing in place to cover the adhesive.
- Turn the pad back over and reposition it exactly where you want it installed.
- Firmly secure one side of the pad to the surface area using masking tape. Taping prevents the pad from moving.
- Lift up the side that is not taped down and peel the paper backing to the crease. Gently lay the pad back in place.
- Firmly press down on the pad where the exposed adhesive is. Apply pressure from the center of the pad outward (center to top, center to bottom) to ensure no air is trapped beneath the pad.
- Continue to line the pad and peel back the paper backing to expose an additional 2" - 3" (5cm - 7.5 cm) and repeat step 7. Continue until one complete side of the pad is adhered.
-
Once the first side is complete, remove the masking tape and repeat steps 7 and 8 for the other half of the pad. Apply even pressure to the pad to ensure a firm bond between the pad and the surface area.

How to Clean Rock Guard Rock Wraps
For removing dirt, debris, rust, and other hard to clean residues from your Rock Guard Rock Wrap, we recommend Dek Magic cleaner, which was specifically developed for easy cleaning of PE/EVA nonskid materials. For best results, spray Dek Magic liberally to cover the area needing to be cleaned. With a medium bristled boat brush, lightly work the product in. Let the cleaner sit for 3-5 minutes then use water to dampen the affected area and lightly scrub for a second time. Rinse the cleaner off thoroughly and dry with a clean towel. If you encounter a stubborn stain, repeat these steps as needed.

How to Remove Rock Guard Rock Wraps
Tools:
- Plastic putty knife
- Acetone (Propan-2-one)
- Mineral Spirits
- Stiff nylon brush (if applicable)
- 3-5 clean rags
Preparation:
Acetone and mineral spirits are highly flammable and can be dangerous if ingested. Please use all precautions (protective eyewear, masks, well-ventilated area, etc.) when handling these products Please view your state/country regulations for proper chemical handling. If you are unsure how certain chemicals will react to your surface, test a small discrete location before use. Before removal, allow the pads to sit in the sun for 30 minutes to help loosen the adhesive.
Removal:
-
Begin by slowly pulling up one corner of the pad. It will take effort to remove the pad. It is best to remove the pad in one piece, as it is much more difficult to remove small torn pieces. For best results, pull the pad laterally—stretching the adhesive. This method helps release the pad from the surface more easily.
- Use a rigid plastic scraping tool while pulling to release the bond between the pad and the surface.
- In cold climates, a heat gun may be used to help relieve the adhesive.
- If the pad starts to tear, use the plastic scraping tool to loosen the pad. You can also use acetone or mineral spirits with the tool to help loosen the adhesive. Repeat for all pads being removed.
- To remove the PSA (adhesive), use a clean rag to apply a layer of mineral spirits to the area. If you are only removing one pad, ensure the mineral spirits do not get onto neighboring pads.
- Spread out the rag and soak with mineral spirits. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to help break down the PSA.
- Repeat until the whole area has been soaked in mineral spirits.
- Use a plastic scraper, working from the outer edge inward, to remove the PSA.
- If the surface you are cleaning is not a smooth surface, use a stiff nylon brush to remove the PSA from all crevices.
- If there are small amounts of PSA residue, acetone and a rag can be used for removal.
- Wipe the entire surface with a clean, dry cloth and let it dry thoroughly.
