Airstream Old Grand Dad Limited Edition Print by Michael Lambert

In honor of the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Airstream Club International, (W.B.C.C.I) Michael Lambert’s Airstream Studio is releasing a very special print of “Old Grand Dad”. This edition is limited to only 70 prints, and they are expected to sell quickly. This archival quality print is 14” x 17” matted to 19” x 22” inches. Each print is hand numbered and signed by the artist.

After working on a series of paintings of electric guitars I realized that it was the chrome parts and reflective surfaces of the instruments that I enjoyed painting the most. This observation coupled with a love of iconic design led to the perfect subject matter for these explorations into the effect of light and reflection; the classic Airstream travel trailer. My wife Tina and I have enjoyed many trips in our own vintage Airstreams and these trips have provided inspiration for my art works. The paintings are in oil.

Having seen Old Grandad in person over the years stored behind the service department at Airstream Inc, in Jackson Center, Ohio, I was thrilled to hear that this important trailer had been tidied up, polished and was to become the centerpiece of the new Heritage Center. I went about painting the trailer set in California at the Inyo National Forest. The majestic landscape surrounding the trailer seems to be an appropriate backdrop for such a timeless classic. As the viewer inspects the curious play of light across the shiny skin of the trailer, they might just see the proud inventor of the Airstream brand admiring his creation from afar.

About the artist…
Michael Frank Lambert, (B.A., B. Ed) is an artist and musician passionate about the Airstream brand. Michael has been painting and exhibiting for 40 years. His work has been featured three times on the cover of internationally acclaimed, Airstream Life magazine and can be found in collections all over North America, England and recently Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo.

Lambert studied fine art at the University of Guelph, the University of Western Ontario and received an Honours Specialist Qualification at York University in Toronto. Michael has been the recipient of several Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Awards.
