The humble rivet. Every Airstream travel trailer is held together by over 4,000 of these small, mushroom-shaped pieces of hardware. Installed by hand in an intricate, coordinated dance by teams of two – one person outside the shell to place and hammer the rivet, another inside to hold a bucking bar so the "stem" end collapses – the rivets in an Airstream travel trailer create waterproof seams between each aluminum sheet. The most amazing part? Each member of the team cannot see the other. It takes teamwork and rhythm to efficiently install thousands of rivets every day.
You may not have an experienced team of riveters on hand at home, but don't let that stop you from making small rivet repairs. These "blind" rivets can be fully installed from one side with the proper tool. Choose from a variety of sizes for a multitude of uses.
